With the 5" lift leaf springs and traction bars you may not be able to install Air Bags # AL88275 on your 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. I have linked an installation video near the bottom of this page which will allow you to see if the ladder bars are going to be in the way of where the air bags mount on the axle. If they have clearance to fit you are going to also need either the 4" # AL52440 or 6" # AL52460 spacer to make up for the lift springs.

Personally I recommend using a weight distribution hitch like the Equal-i-zer # EQ37101ET as it will transfer weight from the rear axle to the front and help reduce rear end sag. This is rated for a trailer up to 10,000lbs with a tongue weight of 600-1,000lbs. If your trailer has a different weight let me know and I can help you find the right hitch. This does not come with a shank as you are likely going to need an Extended Shank # EQ94FR or my preference is a Bulletproof Hitch # HD208 with their Weight Distribution Shank # 358WEIGHTDIST.

Hey, how did things go with your Chevy 3500 when you checked the clearance for the air bags and traction bars? Did you end up going with the air bags and spacers or try the Equal-i-zer weight distribution hitch instead? Your update could make it easier for others working with lifted trucks and toy haulers.
