Replacement Propane Tank Regulator For a 1999 Fleetwood Discover RV Motorhome
Updated 07/08/2024 | Published 06/17/2024 >
Question:
I am trying to find a replacement regulator for a 1999 Fleetwood Discovery motorhome that has a propane powered generator. The generator does not run or start. If it does start, which is seldom, it is not getting the fuel to keep running. I was hoping to change out the regulator which is original equipment. If someone could help me understand what needs to be done, I would appreciate it.

On the type of propane tank mounted on your 1999 Fleetwood Discovery motorhome it will use a JR Products Horizontal 2-Stage Propane Regulator # 37207-30375 coming out of the tank. It would likely be a good idea to have the propane tank and valve inspected as they are going to be 25 years old and it could be you have contaminants in the tank which have clogged your current regulator.

Thanks Bud. I am sorry for not getting back to you sooner and appreciate your answer. I was trying to work multiple angles and your answer explains a lot about my issue. I know the regulator is old and should be replaced. I wasn't sure which one I needed, and you identified that for me. I also am trying to find where I can have it checked and evaluated for contamination. Funny thing, on the way to the forum, a friend disconnected the line going to the carburetor to see if there was fuel present. There was fuel so we tried to restart the generator and it took off. We will continue to try starting the generator until I can find a propane dealer to assess the tank and help purge the contamination within the tank and lines. That hopefully corrects the problem. I don't know how long regulators last so that will be a part replaced at some point. The reason the Onan dealer couldn't identify this issue is beyond me, but it seems like your answer put us on the right track to solve the problem. Thank you and etrailer for your assistance. Chuck
