Can Curt Weight Distribution be Used on Trailer with Aluminum Trailer
Updated 02/17/2026 | Published 06/16/2024 >
Question:
Hello, I would like to mount this Model C17501 on my Livin Lite FB26 Toy Hauler with aluminum frame. My question is should I place some type of material between the aluminum frame and the steel bracket that mounts to it? Any suggestions or advice are much appreciated. Thank you Steve

Hey Steve, so what we've learned over the years is that trailers with aluminum frames are not rated for weight distribution systems. BUT we've heard that isn't always the case so Curt recommends that you contact the trailer manufacturer and ask if you could use a system like the part # C17051 with it and see if they require using an isolator to prevent corrosion. Usually here we just use some gardening plastic as it's easy and effective.
