Question:
I have a 2014 Primer 26BHPR by Keystone, tow behind. How do I determine what wheel bearing kit I need and how long should the factor ones last? What are the recommendations on just a grease job verse replacing the bearings if they appear good once I open them up?

Hi James; you should check your bearings and add new grease every 12 months or 12,000 miles. As long as they're in good shape repacking is fine they don't have to be replaced. There are too many factors to say how long the factory bearings might last. Since it is a 2014 if you have never replaced them it might be a good idea. However, if the trailer hasn't seen a lot of use and a regular maintenance schedule has been followed they may be fine.
You can find out which bearings it uses by identifying the axle with the axle tag or by checking for part numbers when you inspect them. If neither of these are visible you can measure the inner diameter of the bearings or the spindle with a digital caliper # PTW80157.
Based on the weight of the trailer you probably have 3,500 lb axles. If that is the case, you can use the Hub Bearing Kit for Lippert, Dexter, and AL-KO Axles - 3,500 lb with #84 Spindle # BK2-100. This comes with a # L44649 outer and # L68149 inner bearing along with a 10-19 grease seal.
I went ahead and attached a trailer maintenance schedule below for your reference.

Hi James, how did things go when you checked the bearings on your Keystone trailer? Were you able to confirm if the 3,500 lb hub bearing kit fit your setup? Your update could make it easier for others working on similar trailers.
