Question:
Hello. I have a Maxxair Fan installed in my van. Its the basic model with 10 speeds, motor opened and with a remote. For over a year there has been some grease or oil leaking from the fan, coming down the manual opening knob. When opening and closing the fan it has sounded progressively worse. By worse I mean a grinding sound thats becoming more pronounced. Seems on the verge of failure. Do I need to replace this opening mechanism or the motor? Thanks!

Thanks for the picture! Based on what you are describing it sounds like the leak is coming from the motor. There wouldn't be anything that would leak out of the operator mechanism.
We have the Replacement 12-Volt Variable Speed Fan Motor for MaxxAir MaxxFan RV Roof Vents item # MA10-20968 but it fits specific models. If you could comment below what model your fan is I can tell you whether or not this will work or recommend you the correct part if it is available.
