Replacement 7" Hydraulic Drum Brake Assembly For an Obsolete Atwood Drum Brake

Updated 06/01/2024 | Published 05/28/2024

Question:

Hello, Trying to figure out if Dexter Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - 7inch - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 2.5K Item 23-398-399 will work for my boat trailer. The trailer was made by Axix with tandem axles and 10inch wheels, with surge brakes. One of the backing plates appears to say Atwood 7inch L.H. FE Lining. There are 4 bolts, 4inch diagonally, 2 3/4inch side to side. The old pads are 1 3/4 wide. Center hole is 3. Only writing I could find on drum is MAX. DIA 7.060inch and HD7006. Thanks Mark

Thank you for all the information as well as the image Mark. Based on your information the Dexter Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # 23-398-399 will work as a replacement. These assemblies have the same 4" diagonal and 2-3/4" stud spacing. The pads are also the 1-3/4" wide for a 7" diameter drum
