Can I Convert My Galvanized Boat Trailer With A Rectangle Axle To Leaf Spring Suspension
Question:
Question, I have a galvanized boat trailer with a rectangular axle tube. Can I still convert my leaf springs with this set up? The axle is not separate from the trailer its self. My only choice that I put the springs on top of the the fixed axle. Does that makes sense? Thanks for you time

Hello Robert. It sounds like you are trying to convert your trailer over to leaf spring suspension. Does your trailer currently use a torsion axle? Because leaf spring suspension cannot be added to a torsion axle. If it is just a straight rectangle axle, it is possible to add leaf spring suspension.
Spring seats would need to be welded to the axle. We do not offer any spring seats for a square axle, but a spring seat like part # TRSS300 could potentially be modified to fit. You will also need a hanger and bolt kit like part # APS1 along with some appropriately rated leaf springs. If you can tell me the weight capacity of your axle I can recommend springs for you.
