Determining The Correct Replacement Bearings And Grease Seal For A Keystone Cougar 29RLI

Question:

Looking to replace the wheel bearings and seals on my cougar 29 RLI 5th wheel. How do I determine the ones I need?

Hey Curtis,

You'll want to jack up one side of the trailer and remove the wheel and hub in order to get to your bearings, grease seal, and spindle. When removing the hub you'll first take out the outer bearing. When you take the hub off and flip it around you'll see the grease seal, which will cover the inner bearing. You can use a seal puller or a flathead screwdriver and hammer to pop the old grease seal out to see the inner bearing. Taking the grease seal out will ruin it so you'll need the replacements before you'll be able to reinstall the hub. Each of these parts should have a number stamped into them that we can use to determine what it is.

If this part number has worn off then you'll need to measure the spindle at points B, C, and D of the diagram below with a digital caliper # PTW80157 in order to get the inner diameters and the hub bore hole for the outer diameters.
