Question:
What can you recommend that will allow me to tow my 2015 rockwood mini lite with my 2019 ram 2500 with the tailgate down and 2 ½ weight distribution hitch? The tailgate hits the electric jack. The only hitch extensions I see are also 2 ½ to 2 adapters and I dont want to do that.

Hi Robert,
So I know you don't want to, but the only option for a hitch extension for your 2-1/2 inch hitch does reduce the receiver to 2 inches. I hope you're not mad at me, but there unfortunately is no 2-1/2 inch hitch extender that also has a 2-1/2 inch receiver. So if you do change your mind, what you can do is use the extender and a new 2 inch hitch shank:
- Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches # C45048
- Curt Welded Weight Distribution Shank # C17123
The # C45048 is 34" long but can be trimmed to 24" long, which is important because it has different weight ratings depending on the length you use. At 34" long, its capacity with weight distribution is 6,000 lbs towing/600 lbs tongue weight. At 24" long its capacity with weight distribution is 8,000 lbs towing/800 lbs tongue weight.
