Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 5th Wheel Camper with 74-1/2" Mid I-Beam Dimensions

Question:
I have a I beam frame 5th wheel camper. I’ve been looking at the curt 72” adjustable 3500 lb hitch, part number 13703. I understand the 2” tube is 68-1/2” long. My question is where that 72” max measurement is taken. My camper measures 72” inside to inside of bottom flange on I beam. The inside to inside vertical plate of the I beams is approximately 74-1/2”. I do not see a measurement where that plate that bolts into the I beam and then offsets to hit the bottom of the I beam frame.

Hey Chris, thanks for reaching out!
The 72" width for the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13703 is taken from the ends of the mounting bracket (see attached).
Since you're needing something wider I recommend checking out the Stromberg Carlson Adjustable Accessory Hitch Receiver # SC45MR which can fit up to a 76-1/2" wide frame and can be bolted or welded on. This also has the same 350 lb tongue weight as the Curt so you'll be able to carry the same amount of accessories - the only loss is that this hitch isn't rated for towing like the Curt hitch is.
