How Important is it to Clean Grease off of Trailer Brake Assemblies/Drums
Published 04/22/2024 >
Question:
I forgot to spray the drums with brake-clean to get any oil off of them, before I installed the drums on the spindles. Do I need to take them back off and clean the braking surface of the drums? Or will the braking power not be affected?

Hey Kirby, that really will depend on whether there was oil on any of the components. If there was any oil it's going to be a struggle to try and get it to clean itself and you may end up ruining the brake pads to point they never give you full performance. If there basically was no oil you'd be fine.
