Options For Connecting Safety Cables When Using The Dexter DX29FR Actuator

Question:
My only remaining concern is in regards to safety cables. Where would they be mounted on the brake actuator? My old actuator had a set of holes below the hitch with a bolt in it. That is where the safety cables were connected to the actuator. Also, is a lockout key included?

Well Brent that is certainly a valid concern, because the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX29FR does not have any kind of built in safety cable connections. In fact very few of the surge brake actuators that we carry will have cable connections. In most cases the safety cable connection will be part of the trailer tongue itself and not part of the brake actuator (example pictured below).
As far as getting you a cable connection point, it could be as simple as putting a hole a bit farther back in the tongue and attaching with a quick link like part # 37201345. There are also weld on options like the Brophy Safety Chain Mounting Bracket # MB12. Either one would give you a solid connection point. The weld on option is the preferred method so if that is something you are able to do, then that is the route I would go.
Last but not least the lockout key is included with the # DX29FR actuator.
