To flat tow your 2012 GMC Terrain you'll need the following components:
Baseplate: Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1689.
Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates # e47ZR. This tow bar comes with safety cables bracketed to the arms so you won't have to purchase them separately or worry about them dragging on the ground.
Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This diode kit will splice into your Terrain's factory wiring to properly display your motorhome's traffic signals through the tail lights of the Terrain.
Braking System: If your motorhome has hydraulic brakes then you'll want the Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251. This system has an indicator light to display when the brakes are being activated in the Terrain. This light needs to splice into the brake light switch on your vehicle, which unfortunately isn't useable so you'll need a Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751439 in order to simulate this signal.
If your motorhome has air brakes then you'll want the Demco Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motorhomes with Air Brakes # SM99243. This system has a reed switch so you won't need a stop light switch kit.
Per GM Technical Service Bulletin 17-NA-348, GM has identified 4-cylinder models of this vehicle as having steering instability issues while towing. Since you have a 4-cylinder model you will need a # RM-76517 and will need to leave fuse DLIS 32 intact and pull the ABS module fuse located under the hood. Note: due to manufacturing variances, some 4-cylinder models may label the ABS module fuse as 15 or 16. You will also need to install a charge line kit, part # RM-156-25.
Overall the equipment will cost around $3,000, but the labor can vary quite a bit depending on your location and the quality of the installer. I've attached a link below to our Installer Locator so that you can look up nearby installers and get some pricing. I've attached some installation videos below that I recommend checking out to see if you feel comfortable enough completing some of it to avoid paying more on labor.
