The easiest way to install a hitch on your 2021 Subaru Forester is to use the etrailer item # e83ZR. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Subaru with included hardware. It installs below your car instead of behind the rear bumper so you don't have to take the bumper cover off like the item # C47HR hitch requires.

The etrailer Hitch item # e83ZR is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a 3,500 lbs towing capacity and a 525 lbs maximum tongue weight.

Since you are planning on towing you will also need a wiring harness item # C56040 and a ball mount kit item # C45534.
