What Wiring Is Needed For Using Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller On a Subaru?

Im installing a 7-way trailer connector on my Subaru. Do I need a brake control wire if Im using a Curt Echo brake control. It would be wired direct from the battery to the connector?

When using the Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 you will not need a brake control wire. We specifically created the 7-Way Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L which has the 7-way which will plug into a 4-way flat and the wiring needed to run a charge line. The charge line is what will power the Curt Echo and provide power for sending to the trailers electric brakes. The Echo knows when to send power to the trailer brakes by sensing when power is sent to the brake lights on the trailer wiring and then activating the trailer brakes.
