Recommended Hitch, Wiring, and Brake Controller for Towing Mom's Trailer With 2024 Acura MDX

Question:

I'm looking for a hitch, wiring, and brake controller for my 2024 Acura MDX. My mom says I should get them so I can tow her trailer around for her.

Towing your mom's trailer with your 2024 Acura MDX will require a hitch, 7-way wiring, a brake controller, and a ball mount. I recommend the following:

-Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Universal Wiring Harness - Dash Knob - Proportional # RED52VR

-etrailer Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 7,500 lbs # 989900

The etrailer hitch is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a maximum gross trailer weight of 6,000 lbs and max tongue weight of 900 lbs. This also features a matte black powder coat finish for a nice OEM look that helps hide dirt and dings.

The Curt wiring will give you a 4-way to power your trailer's signal lights. Once installed, the # ETBC7 will upgrade you to a 7-way so you can tow a trailer with brakes. The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty mounts behind the dash with only the control knob visible. The knob controls the braking power and also acts as the manual override. The ball mount kit comes with two ball mounts, a 1-7/8" and 2" ball, along with a storage bag to keep everything in.
