What does 5 on 5 terminology mean when your talking about trailer tire spares?

Expert Reply:

The 5 on 5" bolt pattern you see for the Vesper Steel Modular Trailer Wheel # TA87RR means you measure 5" from the center of one of the bolt holes to the far edge of either of the opposite bolt holes (see attached photo).

The 5 on 5" bolt pattern isn't as common as the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern so if you have the 5 on 4-1/2" instead you need the part # 560545WM1. If you get the wrong bolt pattern then the wheel won't fit on your hub and you'll really be stuck if it's your spare.
