Why does it have a plug? My converter/charger is wired directly to the incoming shore power and theres no outlet near it.

The Progressive Dynamics PD9100L Series Battery Converter Charger # PD9180ALV, along with many other standalone converters are designed with the plug to make it easier to install. You can either run a dedicated outlet over to where the converter is installed or you'd have to cut the plug off and run wires from the converter over to your AC distribution panel and wire it directly to a circuit breaker.
