Question:
Hi I have a 2022 Kia Sportage with a factory installed towbar, but no electronics at all. Id like to install - well get someone to install! - an electronic harness that has connector to control small trailer lights, deliver 12 v power to small camper van trailer, and have electronic braking capabilities for the trailer i eventually buy. What bits and pieces would you suggest? and what review videos too? Thanks in advance

In order to tow a trailer with brakes you'll first need to install a 4-pole wire harness like the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56321. This will connect to your tail light wiring and allow you to transfer your light signals through to a trailer. From there you'll need to install a 7-Way # ETBC7.
To activate the brakes on the trailer you'll also need a trailer brake controller. I prefer the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR because of its small footprint and easy to to use design. To wire this into your vehicle you'll also need to pick up a universal wire harness # RED69FR.
I've attached some review videos below so that you can get a better look at these items and see how they work.
