Can I use the Andersen 5th wheel hitch in my Ram1500 short bed? If so what other parts are needed?

If you choose to use the Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # AM3200 you will not be able to make full jackknife turns which will make steering your trailer more difficult. Since the hitch only has a 9" offset it will not give you enough clearance between your cab and the front of the trailer. And this is the reason we do not recommend using it in truck beds shorter than 6'.
I recommend going with the Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550040 which is specifically designed to be used in the short bed trucks. This hitch slides back up to 22-1/2" as you turn giving you enough clearance with your short bed to still perform jack knife turns. This and the Andersen above will attach with the B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails # BWRVK2604
