Question:

How do you get the shaft out of the fan? From below inside or above outside? In my case the screw has sheared off inside of the shaft and the knob has fallen off but the shaft is still up there.

The Replacement Locking Knob Shaft for MaxxAir MaxxFan RV Roof Vents # MA10-21232KSHAFT is held in place with a single screw that runs through the shaft and threads into the lift operator. With your screwhead being sheared off it's definitely going to be a challenge to get it removed, but you can start by removing the lift operator to pull the shaft out from the top of the vent.

The Shaft # MA10-21232KSHAFT is threaded on the knob side so you can either drill out this side or cut through the shaft past the threads to slip it off the screw. Once you have access to the screw you can use some pliers or vice grips to unthread it from the lift operator. The screw can be replaced with part # MA10-21241K.
