Should Keel Rollers Sit Higher or Lower Than the Roller Bunks
Updated 08/09/2023 | Published 08/08/2023 >
Question:
do the keel rollers need to be lower than the bunk rollers as the boat does not slide off very well? I am assuming that the keel rollers should not be supporting the weight of the boat and thier function is for guiding on the trailer. I have a 14 foot Lund. Please suggest proper fit. Thank you

You are correct, the keel rollers are not designed to support most of the weight. The weight should be supported by the roller bunks like the Boat Trailer Deluxe Roller Bunks # DL21740. The keel rollers are meant to be more of a guide.
If they are sitting higher than the roller bunks, this can cause damage to the keel rollers or potential make it more difficult to load and launch your boat.
You do not necessarily need both roller bunks and keel rollers, a lot of people with bunk boards use keel rollers to help get the boat on the trailer because the bunk boards use friction. With roller bunks, the friction is not there.
