Question:
for the CURT RV and Camper Hitch - 13703 hitch. I have I-beams with an inside to inside of the Tinch part of the I-beam being 72inch shortest distance between the I-Beams. If your measure from the Centers of the I-Beam, it has a 1inch lip on each side, is 74, I think that the 72inch limit is the distance between the I-beams not including the lip that the Flange will bolt onto. Does that make sense? Before I order, I wanted to make sure. I could not find a spec sheet showing the total actual length of the main body tube. If I had that information then I could figure it out. Thank you. Bob Crawford.

I pulled one of the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs # 13703 from the warehouse and measured it and found that the cross tube was approximately 68-3/8" in length. Knowing how manufacturers are I'm sure the intended size is 68" since the brackets have a 2" lip and both together would add up to 72". I'm sure if we measured multiple the actual length will vary from 68 to 68-1/2".
The brackets are intended to sit flush up against the inside of the I-beams and have a bend to conform to the lip of the beam. With your measurement being 74" you wouldn't have enough length with the # 13703 and would instead need to use a hitch like the Stromberg Carlson Adjustable Accessory Hitch Receiver # SC45MR, which can't be used for towing so it'd only be good for bike racks, cargo carriers, etc. and has a tongue weight capacity of 200lb when bolt on or 350 when welded on.
