Does Battery of 2015 Smart fortwo Need to Disconnect To Flat Tow

Question:

I have a 2015 Smart fortwo that I will be flat towing. The Smartcar manual says the battery must be disconnected while towing and it would be much easier to disconnect the negative terminal. Can you tell me if just disconnecting the negative terminal would be sufficient for towing the Smartcar?

The owners manual of your 2015 Smart fortwo is the authority on whether it can be flat towed. That said we also have confirmed with Roadmaster it is required. We have a kit that was designed to make this as easy as possible that is also a fit for your vehicle with the Roadmaster Quick Disconnect part # RM-766.
