How is the Hott Rod RV Water Heater Conversion Kit Switched On and Off?

Question:

How is this conversion kit controlled? Is it simply plugging it in and out of the outlet to turn it on or off? I’m wondering if there is a switch available or something that incorporates temperature adjustment in a remote location from the heater?

The tank mounted thermostat with the Hott Rod RV Water Heater Conversion Kit # DGR6VP allows you to set the temperature for the tank. This thermostat must be mounted to the tank. It is simply plugged in and out of the outlet unless you you prefer to install a separate switch inside the camper. Then you would be able to have a switch inside the camper to turn the unit on and off as needed instead of having to manually access the plug.

An easy fix would be to use a smart plug outlet which you can control via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi if you have that in your camper. That would also allow you to set the thermostat to work automatically at certain times.

@Tom Since the Hott Rod is powered by 120 volt power you can use the Switch # 37212515 to power the water heater. You would have to either run the switch in line of a 120volt outlet or wire the Hott Rod directly to the switch.
