This is a question we get pretty frequently as there is definitely some opposing ideas and incorrect information out there in the world of the interwebs. That said, unless otherwise stated by the tire manufacturer*, you always want to run your tires at the max PSI listed on the sidewall of said tire. This is what the manufacturer did all the testing at and will be what all the ratings are listed for. The Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 # AM10140, as an example, is rated up to 80 PSI. This will get you the full use of the Load Range E (1,520 pounds), M speed rating (81 mph), and will insure proper wear. Not going with the max PSI, we can't guaranty proper wear or the capacity. Keep in mind the tires should be filled when "cold".

*Goodyear is an exception to this rule as they seem to have done more testing than other manufacturers. They have a chart that will tell you the capacities at different PSI ratings for their tires. But, and I can't stress this enough, this should only be used with their tires. I do not recommend using their chart or ratings with any other trailer tire.
