Should I Replace a Troublesome Factory Trailer Brake Controller With Aftermarket On 2015 Ford F-150?

Question:
Should I Replace a broken OEM trailer brake controller on a 2015 F150 XLT or purchase a Prodigy 2? Ford dealer wants $850 to fix the OEM controller. Prodigy 2 is advertised as plug and play, but can I just remove the connector to the OEM panel switches and plug into the Prodigy 2 without attention to the OEM controller software?

I fell replacing your factory controller with an aftermarket controller is a better option, because aftermarket controllers tend to have less issues. With your 2015 Ford F-150 XLT having a factory controller you will need to have the ECU flashed before you are able to use the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885. They need to remove the programming for the factory controller since it does not use its own control board like an aftermarket controller. You will need the Pigtail # 22292 to connect to the Prodigy P2 to the factory harness on your F-150. Personally I feel the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 is a better controller with the customizable LCD display and built in troubleshooting.
