Will Thule Ascent 1700 fit 2016 Subaru outbacks stock rack? or Do i need to purchase a separte rack system for it?

The discontinued Thule Ascent 1700 Roof Mounted Black Cargo Box TH605 will have no issues fitting the OEM roof rack on your 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon, although you will need to measure for hatch clearance.
If you have 26" or more from your rear crossbar to the line where your roof and hatch meet then you'll be able to completely open your rear hatch without interference with the cargo box.
If that ends up being too big then you might be interested in the smaller 11 cu ft Thule Force XT # TH6356B which is just a newer version of the Ascent.
