Is There Supposed to Be Gap Between Side Plates on Demco Autoslide Locking Plate for Lippert Rhino

Updated 09/07/2024 | Published 05/21/2023

Question:

I have the Demco lock plate #6335. The 2 mounting brackets have about a 1/4 inch gap between the plate and they brackets. The lip around the rhino pin box seems to be too tall and doest allow the brackets to sit flush with the plate. When i tighten the bolts down to the correct specs there is no play. It just just doesnt look right to me .

I spoke to Demco about the Demco Autoslide Locking Plate for Lippert Rhino Pin Boxes part # DM76FR, the side plates are supposed to be angled as that's what provides the clamping force. I would just make sure you have the bolts torqued fully to the amount specificed in the instructions as that may reduce the amount of gap but nonetheless, it's normal.

Thanks for the up close photo. I too had doubts about correct installation because there was a gap between the bolted together parts. This helped me confirm that my installation was correct.
