Troubleshooting No Turn Signal Wiring on Trailer When Connected to New 2020 Nissan Frontier

Question:

i have a 2020 nissan frontier. I dont think i have a towing package, came with no hitch. I installed a hitch and four wire adapter. did not get a relay harness. however i connected a uhaul and had all lights except one turn signal. what gives do i need a relay harness or not.

Nissan is notorious for botching up on the wiring front so I definitely get where you're coming from.

If the U-Haul trailer has more than one turn signal on the side that wasn't working and it's just one light then it sounds like that light itself either has bad wiring, a bad bulb, or it just needs to be replaced altogether. If there is just one turn signal on that side the above can be true, but your 2020 Nissan Frontier also may need just a new relay for that specific turn signal, which can be found in this kit:

- Curt Relay Kit # C57000

You should be able to find the relay harness up under the dash or in the engine bay. Just look the relays that match the size and style of what's in the Curt kit. Also be sure to check for the OEM pins when you go to install the relay. We've found that Nissan has failed to install pins before as well so even if the relay is in place it just simply isn't connected to the wiring circuit.
