How Wide Of An I-Beam Lip Is Needed To Mount The Curt Adjustable Trailer Hitch For RV's
Updated 04/11/2023 | Published 04/10/2023 >
Question:
On the 13703, it shows bolts going thru the vertical part of the I beam and also the bottom horizontal part of the I beam but there is not a spec for how wide that horizontal part of the I beam needs to be in order to bolt thru it or the hole location spec on the bracket?

The lip of bracket on the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs # 13703 is 1.23" wide with the bolt hole in the center. If your frame beam lip isn't long enough you can just have a welder run down the length of the bracket to secure it to the frame.
When Installing the bolts that secure the crossbeam to the brackets you'll have to do one on the side and one on the top or bottom since the bolt holes were drilled directly across from each other and there isn't enough room in the crossbeam to get both bolts in place. I also had some issues with the length of the bolts being just a bit too long to get them in place so I ended up cutting them shorter with a grinder. We actually had Curt out at our facility when I was doing this install and talked to them about shortening the bolts a bit to fix this issue so you may not have the same difficulties I had.
