Question:
Looking at swapping my surge trailer brakes to Hydrastar electric-hydraulic. I noticed they come in a range 1000 to 1600 psi. What dictates the correct pressure? My trailer is tri axle, Disc brake on all 3 and load is approx. 10K.

As you are converting your surge trailer with disc brakes you will want to go with the Hydrastar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator w/ Breakaway and 7-Way RV Harness # HS381-9067. This kit will include the junction box to run your wiring, a breakaway kit and the correct actuator.
The 1,000psi Hydrastar # HBA-10 is for single or tandem axle trailers up to 7,000lbs GVWR with drum brakes. The 1,200psi Hydrastar # HBA-12 is for trailers using drum brakes over 8,000lbs GVWR with up to 3 axles. And the 1,600psi Hydrastar # HBA16 is for trailers with disc brakes and up to 3 axles.
If you can provide me with some additional details on your trailer I can help you find the correct replacement Coupler # DM16080-95 as it is not recommended to continue using the surge coupler. You will also want to be sure any trailer brake controller you use is compatible with electric over hydraulic brakes. If you are using a factory installed brake controller you will most likely need a Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Adapter Module # HBA-CAM for your controller to function properly.
