Question:
Just a couple of questions regarding your Hydrastar Hydraulic 1000psi actuators for disk brakes. The customer supplied us with the unit but there was no Break-Away kit supplied with it. Can we marry-up this system with a Tekonsha Break-Away kit normally used on an electrick drum brake application, and if so will the 4 hour battery be sufficient to ensure correct operation? Is there a battery charger built into the Hydrastar Actuator?Your earliest reply would be greatly appreciated.Regards

You can use a Tekonsha breakaway kit with the HydraStar brake actuators, but it must have a 12 volt 5 amp-hour battery. For the HydraStar brake actuators, we recommend part # 50-85-313. The HydraStar actuators do not come with a breakaway kit and they do not have an integrated battery charger. The Tekonsha breakaway kit that I referenced comes with a Premium Integrated Charger, so you will not need to worry about picking up a separate charger.
I have attached our help articles that explain all of the parts needed to add electric over hydraulic brakes to a trailer for you to reference if needed.
