what parts are needed to allow hookup of the electrical for a trailer. We have a Yakima Rack and Roll trailer with a connector for the brake and signal lights.

To send your 2023 Volkswagen ID 4's brake, turn, and stop signals through to the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08107 you'll need a 4-pole wiring harness with a tail light converter like the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236.
This wiring harness will splice into your tail light wiring of your vehicle and run up to the battery to power the converter. Since this is an all splice-in style wire harness you'll want to pick up some heat shrink butt connectors # DW05744-10 as well for a waterproof seal. I've attached a short video below of similar Volkswagen to help with a few installation tips. The wiring colors will most likely differ on your model so I would use this only as a guide.
