Recommended 5th Wheel Rails for a 2022 Ford F-250

Question:
Hi, I just got a new truck but have a Reese 16k fifth wheel hitch already. The truck does not have the fifth wheel prep. Its an F250 crew short bed. Ive had two trucks before, one with an under bed mount, and one with rails above the bed. I am inclined to go with rails this timeslightly lighter permanent weight in the bed, and I think the hitch was a little lower since I didnt need the big rectangular adapter. I am asking 2 questions: do you strongly recommend an under the bed mounting system over above-bed rails, and 2, if I can get the Reese rails from you. I see them only as pat of a kit with the hitches. Thanks

Congrats on the new truck! I do not recommend an under bed mounting system over above bed rails. After market under bed systems have limitations on what type of hitches and pin boxes you can use and sometimes expensive adapters are required. There is nothing comparable to the Ford OEM puck system available for your 2022 Ford F-250 either.
To add a custom fit set of above bed rails to your 2022 F-250, I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails item # RP50074-58. This rail system will allow you to use your Reese 16k 5th Wheel Hitch whether it is a fixed or sliding hitch. The brackets are custom fit which saves you time and lots of effort during the installation process because they install in pre-drilled holes in your trucks frame.

To make towing with a 5th wheel easier I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector - 10' Long item # C57010. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your 5th wheel trailer easier and is an identical set up to what comes with the OEM prep packages.
