Expert Reply:
The Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors you referenced, part # BB1980A-SS, do not require other parts for installation on your trailer hubs.
What is important is that your current trailer hubs have the correct bore for these parts, 1.980-inches as measured with a digital caliper, and that your outer bearing number matches one of the three that are compatible with this Bearing Buddy kit: L-44643, L-44649 or L-44640.
Also please note that Bearing Buddies cannot be used on EZ-Lube spindles (those that already have a grease zerk fitting).
We recommend that you inspect your inner grease seal to be sure it has no leaks. The pressure from a Bearing Buddy can cause a single-lip grease seal to leak, so we recommend double-lip seals.
You can find a correct double-lip replacement seal using your original seal part number, or by measuring the spindle at the point where the seal rides (location B on the linked photo) to determine the seal inner diameter required. Then you can use the link provided to find correct double-lip replacement seals.
If your inner bearing is # L44643, then you can use part # BB60001. If your inner bearing is # LM48548 or # L68149 then you can use part # BB60002.
