Replacement Trailer Brake Assemblies For 2006 Keystone Cougar 289EFS With ALKO T-52 On Backing Plate

Question:

Hello, I have a 2006 Keystone cougar fifth wheel model 289EFS. It has 12“ x 2“ electric brake assemblies that I would like to replace. The backing plate on the brakes is T-52 AL-KO and the axles are also AL-KO rated at 4400 pounds. Which brakes assemblies would I need? Thanks.

It sounds like the axles on your 2006 Keystone Cougar 289EFS 5th wheel may have been modified from the original 4,400lb trailer brakes. The 4,400lb axles used parts that have been discontinued, but as you mentioned your brakes show T-52 on the backing plate you may be able to use the Dexter Electric Brake Kit # 23-105-106-09 which has both the standard 5 bolt pattern and 4 bolt ALKO mounting pattern. I have included images below with the measurements for both bolt patterns. If you have something else please let me know and I will determine if there is another solution for your brakes.
