Question:

I have a 2021 Volvo XC90 with the Volvo foldable hitch receiver. That receiver has a limited depth of 2.5 inch to the pin hole. I want to make sure anything I get - cargo box or racks - will fit in that. I have a Saris bike rack that I cant use because the receiver is 1/4inch too shallow to get to the pin hole on the rack. I am looking at the Gear Deck 17 and the Gear Space 34. I am looking for an enclosed cargo carrier for both my Volvo and a Renegade Vienna 22 RV. One of my prime things to carry is ex-pens for my dogs, which the panels are 24x36. Im having a hard time finding boxes that can handle the 24. Very sad the Yakima wont.

The GearSpace 34 Enclosed Cargo Carrier part # HGK819 for gray or part # HGK826 for white and the GearDeck 17 Enclosed Cargo Carrier part # H00604 are compatible with a 2021 Volvo XC90, you'll just want to use the hitch pin hole closest to the end of the shank. The interior dimensions of the GearSpace are 63" long x 28" wide x 40" tall so these will both work great with your dog crates. The GearDeck at 46-1/2" long x 24" wide x 25" tall would be a bit too small for the dog crates.
