Recommended Furrion Tankless Water Heater Replacement For An Atwood GC6AA-10E

Updated 02/19/2023 | Published 02/17/2023

Question:

Goods evening, Im looking to replace my Dometic GC6AA-10E, tank water heater with a tankless Furrion 2.4 GPM. I see there are 3 different doors. The GC6AA-10E door that is currently there is 18x14.5in. I saw another post where they recommended replacing the GC6AA-10E with a Furrion with the 16.14x16.14in door. Whats the difference? Is my current tank heater larger than normal? Im assuming I need the 18.14” x 16.14” door for the Furrion. Would you agree? Thanks!

The dimensions I can find online for a GC6AA-10E show it needing a 16" x 16" door, but there are plenty of outliers out there that can require different sized doors so it's best to measure what you current have and then find the corresponding fit.

The # FR48SR comes with a 16-1/8" tall x 18-1/8" wide access door, so if your measurements are 18" wide by 14.5" tall then you'd be fine with this door. If not then you could go with the # FR68SR, which has an 18" x 18" door, to fully cover your cutout hole.

You'll want to use some butyl tape # AL28FJ on the inside of the mounting flanges to form a watertight seal with the mounting screws and some non-sag sealant # 344270341437-1 around the outside of the door trim to complete your waterproofing to prevent water from getting into the walls of the RV.
