Question:

Does the trailer battery need to be connected or will this elec winch raise and lower when hooked only into the tow vehicles 7 pin wiring system?

The Electric Jack w/ Footplate # EJ-3520-WBX could be powered straight from the 12 volt trailer accessory trailer wiring circuit if needed. Under max load this would draw up to 30 amps which the 12 volt circuit typically is rated for up to 40 but that does depend on vehicle.
