Which Orientation are Leaf Springs Installed In

Question:

First timer..... which measurement goes forward towards the tounge? Is it the shorter side C or the longer side? Or does it matter as long as both springs are in the same direction? Thank you in advance

The 12-5/8 inch dimension from the spring eye to the cinch bolt of the # e44SR leaf spring (dimension C in the diagram) is symmetrical, so the spring could be mounted in either direction. Customarily, the end of the spring with the band wrapped around it is placed forward of the axle, closest to the front of the trailer, but it really makes no difference. On leaf springs that are asymmetrical, the shorter distance would be forward of the axle.
