Is Air Lift Spacer Needed for 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 with 1" Rear Lift
Updated 12/15/2022 | Published 12/14/2022 >
Question:
What is the required space from frame to axe for this air bag? My truck is a 2003 gmc 1500 extended cab short bed. There has been a 5/8inch THICK add a leaf so it is only 1 inch higher than stock. The space from frame to axle is 7.5inch , I think a 2inch spacers would be too much. Thank you

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs part # AL57272 for a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 would not require an additional spacer for any lift under two inches per Air Lift. The air bags will be able to compensate for the extra gap between the frame and axle under this amount. That said, I have attached for you below a diagram provided from the manufacturer on measuring for the correct lift spacer. The above Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs has six inch tall air bags.
