Question:
Can you have too much hitch, or one slightly light? Looking on recommendations of which hitch weight I can use, My needs seem to fall between the 6k hitch which states a maximum Hitch Weight of 600#, which will be close if not slightly exceeded and the 10k hitch which again might be excessive and not much below my 12k. Thanks!

If the weight of the trailer is over half the weight of the tow vehicle then you'll need a weight distribution system. The rear suspension on the Ram also uses coil springs which are great but they'll sag more than the comparable leaf springs on a Ford or Chevy. Furthermore, the lighter trailers are typically the ones with sway control problems so I do think a weight distribution system is a good idea for you. That said, an overrated one won't do you any good so you'll want to replace the spring bars with ones more appropriately rated for the trailer, the Replacement Spring Bars for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems part # EQ90-01-0699.
