Thank you for your recent order.
The Class I hitch you referenced, Curt # C11001, fits the sedan version of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-350 but will not fit the wagon, coupe or convertible versions. There are other hitches offered for these vehicles. Thank you also for providing photos of the underside of your E-350.
I spoke to my technical contact at Curt Manufacturing about the installation process. He advised that this hitch should install on your E-350 sedan without need to remove or trim any of the plastic fascia that covers the rear bumper.
The rear mounting flange for this hitch (at the wider end above the receiver tube) should fit underneath the lip of the rear fascia and reach the mounting surface on the bottom of the bumper without need to cut. You will then mark your drilling locations, center punch them and drill out the holes using a carbide bit and spray lubricant.
Once installed this light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch can be used to tow trailers up to 2000-lbs gross towing weight, or used with a Class I bike carrier. Please note that a Class I hitch can support the weight of only 2 bikes, even if the carrier itself can hold more.
