Question:
How much does the actual trailer hitch weigh? Trying to figure out weight capacity once installed, including the weight of the hitch itself. I believe that Subaru says the max tongue capacity for a 2012 Forester is 200 lbs. So I guess that I need to include the weight of the hitch, weight of the item attached to the hitch in my case a bike rack don’t foresee towing anything and the weight of the bikes. So, am I right in assuming that all these items: hitch, bike rack and bikes heavier e-bikes need to come in under 200 lbs? Thanks

The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75650 for your 2012 Subaru Forester weighs 36lbs. You will not need to include the weight of the receiver into your tongue weight calculation but it will need to be considered for the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating(GVWR) of your Forester.
You will need to ensure that your bike rack and the weight of your e-bikes does not exceed the maximum tongue weight your Subaru is capable of hauling or the maximum tongue weight of the receiver(600lbs). You will want to contact a Subaru dealer to determine the maximum capacity your Forester can haul.
I recommend the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack # Y36FR for carrying your e-bikes. This is one of our lightest e-bike racks that allows you to use a ramp for loading and unloading your bikes. The rack weighs only 39.5lbs and is capable of hauling 2 bikes up to 66lbs each.
If your bikes impair the view of your tail lights or you for see having to tow a trailer with your Forester you will want to install the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118467. This will give you a 4-way flat connector that you will need to connect to most small trailers. You can also use Auxiliary Lights # C53201 with your bike rack so other drivers have a clear view of tail lights on the back of your bike rack. You will be able to run the 4-way out through your floor of your Forester and secure it to the receiver cross tube using the mounting Brackets # 18140 & # 18144.
