Options to Use a Back-Up Camera on a Trailer Being Towed By a 2018 Audi Q7

Updated 08/22/2022 | Published 08/20/2022

Question:

We bought a 25-foot travel trailer 2022 KZ Connect 2 weeks ago and need an RV camera that works. The Furrion camera does not work with our tow vehicle, a 2018 Audi Q7. It wont seem to pair. We do not want to drive off the lot with the new trailer until we have a proper camera. We dont feel comfortable backing up or driving on the highway without a rear camera. We have read posts on the internet about there being a problem with German cars. We had the idea to buy a camera that connected to an app in our iPhone in order to eliminate the amps needed to power the monitor because we thought that perhaps the Audi didnt have enough amps or voltage to power a camera monitor. CAN YOU HELP WITH A SOLUTION SO THAT WE CAN DRIVE THIS TRAILER OFF THE LOT. WE HAVE PLANS TO GO AWAY AND I AM LOSING HOPE! THANKS SO MUCH!!

We actually have a solution to help you get your Furrion camera up and running when using your 2018 Audi Q7. There are 2 options.

The first is the 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter for Furrion RV Observation Camera # FR87PR which plugs into your 7-way to provide the additional power required for your Furrion Vision S RV observation camera system to function properly. If your 12v pin has power then this will work to boost that power for your camera.

If your 12v pin is not receiving power when you test it, then you will want to use the 12V PWM Filter for RV Backup Camera Systems # VGR64VR instead, this option does require the harness to be hardwired in behind the camera.

We do have options that use a battery for power and your phone as the monitor if you still prefer to go that route.

- Rampage Wireless Backup Camera for Smartphone or Tablet # RA7710.

This option is gong to require you to mount the camera somewhere metal, which can be difficult to find on trailers at times.
