Hello, I am looking for crossbars to install on my vehicle that can support the weight of a rooftop tent for 2 ppl. Which roof racks do you have that support over 300 lbs? I’m seeing almost all of them around 150 lb weight capacity yet they’re all claiming to fit roof top tents so I’m a bit confused.

This weight rating is the dynamic weight rating, or the weight rating while the vehicle is in motion. Using a rooftop tent like the Yakima SkyRise HD Tent for Roof Rack Crossbars # Y07436 uses the static weight rating, or not in motion. I have included a more in depth explanation of this below.

To be able to use the SkyRise on your vehicle, both your roof and your aftermarket roof rack must have a minimum load capacity of 165 lbs. This weight capacity, also known as dynamic weight capacity, is the maximum weight your roof and roof rack can safely support while the vehicle is in motion.
