Question:

I have a 2015 Smart car and I found the e44ZR tow bar and base plate kit. Please confirm that these hardware will fit my Smart car. The car weight is 2700 pound. Thank you.

The only compatible baseplate kit for a 2015 Smart Fortwo is the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit # 52285-1 which would also be compatible with the etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e44ZR that you referenced. I do want to note that this will not be compatible with electric drive models.

To transfer your braking and turn signals through the vehicle you'll need the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 7-Wire to 6-Wire Straight Cord # RM-152-98146-7.

The owner's manual requires that the battery is disconnected while towing so I recommend the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle w/ Supplemental Braking System # RM-766 to make this as easy as flipping a switch.

Since you have combined wiring you'll also need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751437 to prevent the brake signal from overriding the turn signals. This is important for when you're trying to switch lanes and have to press the brake to slow down. Without it the brake signal would override the turn signal and no one would know you're trying to get over.

Finally, you'll just need a braking system, for this I recommend the Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524. This system comes with a remote to control the settings of the system from the seat of your motorhome as well as a charge line kit to keep your vehicle's battery charged while you tow.
