Question:
Hi. My ramp door is 67” wide and 79” long ,and attached to a piano hinge. With the door open and the end sitting on a scale, it registers 74 lbs. I guess then the total weight of the door to be 150 lbs . Can I use the single 120 lb spring ?

In order to properly weigh your door to figure out the correct spring you only need to find the weight when the ramp door is down. Assuming you weighed your door without spring assist, you can use the 74 lb measurement. Typically, you use a scale and place a block of wood or something similar on the scale and rest your ramp on the block to get this measurement.
You do not need to know or estimate the total weight of the door to choose a replacement spring. Based on the weight and the door width of 67" you will have no problem using the Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 6' Wide Enclosed Trailer - Single Spring - 120-lb Capacity # 362SA6.
