Equalizer 18 Inch Weight Distribution Shank w/ a Easy Lift Weight Distribution System
Published 04/28/2022 >
Question:
I need to tow with my tailgate down and am looking at the EQ90-02-460. I have a 2016 Ram 1500 crew cab 4x4 with 5.7 engine, pulling a trailer with dry weight at 5,793 lbs and hitch weight of 571 lbs. I also use a easy lift weight distribution hitch rated at - Max gross trailer weight, distribution = 14,000, Carrying = 6,000, max tongue at distribution 1,400 and carrying at 600. My reciever hitch is stock from dodge. Am I going to cause a problem using the extender? FYI I need the tailgate open so I can haul a 1,280 lbs UTV.

Expert Reply:
Using the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank item # EQ90-02-4600 will not reduce your 2016 Ram 1500's capacity or limit your weight distribution hitch. This shank has a 600 to 1,400 lbs tongue weight range and will allow you to haul your trailer with your tail gate down. The Equalizer shank is compatible with your Easy Lift weight distribution system.
